Zorya Luhansk coach Mladen Bartulovic on the victory over Chornomorets:
"I congratulate the team on an important, hard-fought victory. All week we were preparing for the game, we realized how important it would be for us. Perhaps somewhere, this put pressure on us after we scored. Somewhere the opponent had the ball for a while. In such games, it is important to score the second goal.
We had a chance to score against Korablino. We conceded a goal to Chornomorets, but managed to gather ourselves, find our strength and snatch the victory. Today is a Balkan day for us. All the guys are great, I thank them for their game and character.
- Did you manage to implement everything you talked about with the team before the match?
- The beginning of the match showed that the most important thing is the ball selection, especially given the condition of the lawn and the weather. It was after we picked up the ball that we scored the goal.
There were other opportunities that we did not realize. It is important to create chances on such a pitch. I think it was an interesting game. Both teams wanted to win. We deserved the victory and we won today.
-Maybe, given the weather we have in December, we should end the championship earlier and play the second leg in two days in the spring?
-I think it can be done. But there are teams that play in European competitions. In the fall, it is important for them to play on such a schedule. In the spring, it's a different matter. You can play more often. When I was a footballer, I always wanted to play more than train. It's easier. But such matches are not only for us. Yesterday teams played, and today too. The most important thing is that we have football during the war. We will prepare for the second round.
-Will you continue to work with the team?
-We will have a conversation with the club president and discuss everything with him.
-Which players will leave Zorya in the winter?
-We will definitely not have Benito and Ndur. And then we will talk, communicate.
-Can the players on loan from Dynamo return to the Kyiv team in the winter?
-Anything can happen. But we hope that all of them will stay with us.
- What position does your team need to strengthen in the first place?
- We need to strengthen every link. We need competition. When there is competition, there is progress. Especially when there are so many young players in the team.
-Oleksiy Gusev is not playing because he is losing the competition so far?
-We hope that he will have a full training camp with us and be ready to play. In the summer, he went to the Euros, so he practically did not work with us. Gusev will go through the training camp, play 5-6 matches and add more. During these six months that he has been in the team, Oleksiy has made progress. I am sure that in the second round he will have more chances to play for Zorya.
